Hi, I’m Melissa Feris, a professional muralist based in Kansas City with over 25 years of experience creating large-scale artwork for clients nationwide. I hold a Master of Arts in Studio Art, and I’ve devoted my career to transforming blank walls into visual stories that inspire, connect, and celebrate community.
From brand-driven business murals to community-focused public art and residential commissions, I specialize in hand-painted works that are both artistically powerful and deeply personal.

Art Education & Community Impact

In addition to being a full-time muralist, I’m also a passionate art educator, committed to sharing the power of creativity with both children and adults. Whether it’s leading workshops, mentoring emerging artists, or facilitating community art projects, I believe everyone can benefit from making art—and I love helping people discover their artistic voice.
One of the most meaningful examples of this work is my large-scale canvas painting of Maya Angelou. This powerful portrait not only showcases my ability to work on a grand scale with canvas but also serves as a teaching tool in my educational sessions. I use this painting to guide students through techniques in portraiture, brushwork, storytelling, and symbolism, while sparking conversations about strength, resilience, and cultural impact.
